Bespoke Ash Hardwood Coffee Table with Black Walnut Detail

I was recently asked to make a bespoke coffee table for clients in Dorset. They had an idea of the size they wanted and a few ideas for the design, although they allowed me to have a lot of input, I think together we came up with something really special. The 'Osmo - raw' finish protects the wood whilst keeping it as close to its natural form as possible, it also darkens the walnut detail, making it pop.

The joinery for this piece is quite traditional, with 'bread-board ends' allowing the wood to move across its width and mortice and tenon joints between the leg and frame. The piece does have a modern twist with the walnut detail, it goes right through the top, rather than being an inlay which you can see from the side profile.
