Re-purposing an old architects chest

A fun project delivered today. Already a beautiful piece of furniture, the clients found the piece on a well known online shop, I love the patina on the oak and brass handles; which can only be achieved from years of use. This piece was originally built to house architects plans, my brief was to change its use to house a TV, which can be put away when not in use.

The solid brass piano hinge compliments the existing handles and gas struts give strong support for the heavy oak top which will become even heavier once the tv is attached to the underside. The drawers have been removed and the two bottom drawer fronts have been formed into a drop flap to house the dvd player.

A great idea for those who would prefer to hide the TV away.
